Clinical Application
This instrument is designed for controlled bone and ligament removal during spinal decompression procedures such as laminectomy and hemilaminectomy. The small, 5 mm bite permits incremental nibbling of laminar bone and ligamentum flavum in confined surgical corridors, allowing the surgeon to work cautiously around neural elements and dura while preserving surrounding soft tissue.
Design & Configuration
The upward angulation reorients the jaw tip to facilitate access from inferior-to-superior approaches and to reach beneath the lamina in tight operative fields. A 13 cm overall length provides reach into deeper exposures while maintaining hand control and tactile feedback. The 5 mm jaw size supports precise, incremental bone removal where larger rongeurs would be too aggressive or obstruct the view.
