Clinical Application
This instrument provides atraumatic exposure of the vaginal walls and cervix to facilitate diagnostic and minor operative gynecologic procedures. Its geometry is intended for routine pelvic examinations, cytology sampling (Pap smear), IUD placement and removal, colposcopy, and other procedures where direct visualization and instrument access to the cervix are required.
Design & Configuration
The Kallmorgen bivalved design uses broad, oval blades to distribute retraction pressure evenly against the vaginal walls, improving patient comfort while maximizing the visual field. The adjustable, self-retaining mechanism permits hands-free access to the cervix and vaginal vault, allowing the clinician to perform sampling, instrumentation, or colposcopic inspection without continuous manual retraction. The 90 x 40 mm profile provides a balance between depth and lateral aperture for general gynecologic use.
