Clinical Application
This instrument is designed for controlled mechanical removal of endometrial tissue and intrauterine contents. Common uses include diagnostic and therapeutic dilation and curettage (D&C), endometrial biopsy in office or operating-room settings, and evacuation of retained products following miscarriage or delivery. The 5.0 mm curette head provides sufficient surface area for effective sampling and tissue removal while remaining appropriate for passage through standard cervical dilatation sizes used in adult gynecologic care.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's 28 cm overall length provides the reach required to access the uterine cavity in typical adult patients while preserving tactile feedback through a rigid shaft. The Fig.1 configuration represents a classic curettage geometry intended to combine effective scraping surface with controlled tip profile for predictable tissue engagement. A purpose‑designed handle and shaft stiffness enable the operator to modulate pressure and angle during scraping maneuvers, improving specimen acquisition and reducing inadvertent trauma to the endometrium.
