Clinical Application
This instrument is used to achieve controlled mechanical dilation of the cervical canal to approximately 9.0 mm. It is indicated for use during gynecologic procedures that require atraumatic cervical access or enlargement, including dilation & curettage, hysteroscopy access, preparation for intrauterine device placement, and other operative procedures where graduated dilation is required. The single 9.0 mm diameter is typically used as a definitive step in a graduated dilation sequence or as a stand-alone size when that diameter is clinically indicated.
Design & Configuration
The straight, cylindrical geometry with a smooth tapered profile provides progressive tissue separation with minimal focal pressure. A rounded atraumatic tip facilitates entry through the external os while reducing the risk of coring or creating false passages. The single-ended configuration simplifies tray organization and selection when a specific diameter is needed, and the polished surface promotes consistent tactile feedback to the operator during gradual insertion and removal.
