Clinical Application
Provides controlled mechanical dilation of the cervical canal to allow passage of instruments and access to the uterine cavity. Commonly used during office or operating-room procedures such as intrauterine device placement, diagnostic or operative hysteroscopy, dilation and curettage, and cervical preparation prior to gynecologic surgery. The 5.0 mm diameter corresponds to a moderate step in incremental dilation sequences.
Design & Configuration
The solid, tapered cylindrical geometry offers gradual, stable dilation while permitting direct tactile feedback to the operator. A smooth, non-serrated surface reduces resistance and minimizes cervical trauma during insertion and removal. The rod-style profile is ergonomically straightforward for single-handed insertion and controlled advancement, and it integrates easily into sequential dilation protocols when used alongside adjacent-size Hegar instruments.
Instrument Specifications
