Clinical Application
This instrument is a mechanical cervical dilator used to progressively enlarge the cervical canal to permit passage of diagnostic and operative instruments. It is used in gynecologic procedures such as dilation and curettage, transcervical hysteroscopy, and other procedures that require controlled cervical enlargement or access to the uterine cavity. The 23.0 mm diameter provides a large-caliber dilation option for cases where substantial cervical opening is required.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's straight, single-ended rod with a tapered, rounded leading tip is designed to enter the cervical os smoothly and provide progressive radial dilation as larger diameters are introduced. The solid rod geometry delivers direct tactile feedback during passage, allowing the operator to judge resistance and dilation progression. A single-ended configuration is typically selected when a single working diameter is required or when used in combination with a set of progressively sized dilators.
