Clinical Application
Designed to provide controlled mechanical dilation of the cervical canal, this Hegar dilator is used to establish or confirm cervical patency and to achieve a specific cervical diameter prior to intrauterine procedures. Common applications include dilation and curettage (D&C), diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, IUD insertion or removal when larger cervix diameter is required, and other gynecologic interventions where precise, single-size dilation is indicated.
Design & Configuration
The straight, single-ended tapered geometry delivers a smooth, gradual transition from hub to tip, allowing tactile feedback during passage through the cervical os. The single-ended configuration provides a dedicated working end at the specified diameter (19.5 mm), which is useful when a procedure requires that exact size rather than a graduated set. A finely polished surface reduces friction and helps minimize cervical trauma during insertion and withdrawal.
