Clinical Application
Hegar uterine dilators provide controlled, progressive cervical dilation to permit safe passage of instruments into the uterine cavity. The 16.0 mm diameter instrument is commonly selected when moderate dilation is required for procedures such as dilation and curettage, hysteroscopy pre-dilation, endometrial biopsy access, IUD insertion in select cases, or general cervical preparation in gynecologic care. The solid taper provides predictable tissue expansion and tactile feedback for the operator.
Design & Configuration
The straight, single-ended tapered rod design concentrates the working length into a smooth, gradually increasing diameter to minimize cervical trauma during insertion. The rounded, atraumatic tip facilitates entry into the cervical canal and reduces the risk of snagging or perforation. The single-ended configuration is easy to handle and provides direct tactile feedback so clinicians can judge resistance and progression while dilating.
