Clinical Application

Used to achieve controlled, graduated cervical dilation and canal calibration prior to intrauterine procedures. The 13.0 mm diameter is a larger Hegar size commonly used when wider access to the uterine cavity is required for procedures such as dilation and curettage, hysteroscopy setup, removal of retained products, or certain IUD placements. Sequential use with smaller sizes permits gradual dilation while minimizing cervical trauma; the instrument provides tactile feedback to the operator for assessment of canal patency and resistance.
