Clinical Application
This Hegar dilator set provides a controlled, graduated series of rigid dilators for cervical dilation in gynecologic procedures. The set is intended to be used to achieve progressive mechanical dilation of the cervix prior to procedures such as dilation and curettage (D&C), diagnostic or operative hysteroscopy, intrauterine device placement, or treatment of cervical stenosis. Using sequential sizes minimizes trauma by allowing gradual expansion and tactile feedback during dilation.
Design & Configuration
The set contains 14 single-ended Hegar dilators in sequential diameters from 4 mm to 17 mm. Each instrument is a smooth, cylindrical rod with a tapered, rounded tip to facilitate atraumatic entry through the cervical canal. The single-ended configuration simplifies selection during sequential dilation and the supplied pouch supports organized storage and transport between sterilization cycles.
