Clinical Application
Used to establish and maintain cervical dilation to allow safe passage of intrauterine instruments. Commonly employed during procedures such as dilation and curettage (D&C), hysteroscopy, endometrial sampling, and other gynecologic interventions when mechanical dilation of the cervical canal is required. The instrument provides a controlled, atraumatic method to dilate the cervix prior to definitive intrauterine treatment or diagnostic access.
Design & Configuration
The long, single-shaft design with a tapered working end facilitates gradual, controlled dilation of the cervical canal and uterine ostium. A 34 cm working length gives extended reach, which can be useful when increased external-to-internal distance is present or when deeper intrauterine access is required. The taper geometry helps reduce focal stress at the cervical os, promoting gentle tissue separation and improved tactile feedback for the operator.
