Clinical Application
Provides atraumatic exposure of the vaginal canal and cervix to facilitate direct visualization, diagnostic sampling (Pap smear, endocervical swab), and minor outpatient gynecologic procedures. The narrow-profile bivalve design is used in routine examinations where controlled retraction and clear sight lines to the cervix are required.
Design & Configuration
The hinged, two-bladed (bivalve) geometry allows symmetric retraction of the vaginal walls for unobstructed access to the cervix. The narrow, duckbill-style blades reduce soft-tissue displacement and can improve patient comfort and examiner visibility in patients with a tighter introitus. The Fig.2 size (85x35 mm) represents a mid-range blade footprint commonly selected for standard adult examinations where a balance of depth and opening width is desired.
