Clinical Application
The Cusco bivalve speculum is designed to provide atraumatic separation of the vaginal walls to expose the cervix for inspection, sampling and minor procedures. Typical uses include pelvic examination, Pap smear collection, colposcopy, cervical biopsy assistance and placement or removal of intrauterine devices. The 100 x 25 mm blade geometry provides a balance of length and narrow blade width to facilitate visualization while minimizing patient discomfort in many adult exams.
Design & Configuration
The hinged, bivalve design produces parallel retraction of anterior and posterior vaginal walls for a direct line of sight to the cervix. The self-retaining adjustable locking mechanism keeps the blades open without manual support, freeing the clinician for specimen collection or instrumentation. The narrow 25 mm blade width reduces pressure on the vaginal walls and the 100 mm blade length extends access to the cervix in standard examinations.
