Clinical Application
Designed to provide a secure grip on dense, fibrous tissue, these Bonney-style dissecting forceps are used for atraumatic-to-moderate tissue handling during blunt and sharp dissection, retraction, and tissue mobilization. The serrated jaws give reliable purchase on fascia, connective tissue, muscle, and suture material, making the instrument well suited for general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, and many soft-tissue procedures. Because the serrations increase holding force, the forceps are not recommended for manipulation of extremely delicate structures such as fine vessels or thin epithelial tissue.
Design & Configuration
The serrated jaw configuration provides positive, non-slip traction on tough tissues, reducing the need for repeated repositioning during dissection. At 18 cm overall length, the geometry balances reach and tactile control—long enough to access deeper operative fields while maintaining hand-level control for precise tissue handling. The Bonney pattern is recognized for stout, broad jaws that distribute grip pressure across a wider surface compared with fine tissue forceps, which improves control when working with thicker connective tissue.
