Clinical Application
This combination set provides point-of-care diagnostic visualization for both otologic and ophthalmoscopic examinations. The otoscope head is used for inspection of the external auditory canal and tympanic membrane to evaluate otitis, cerumen impaction, TM perforation, and foreign bodies. The ophthalmoscope head is intended for direct, magnified assessment of the anterior segment and the fundus to assist in the evaluation of red eye, diabetic retinopathy screening, papilledema, and other retinal or optic nerve pathology. The set is suited to primary care, ENT clinics, ophthalmology screening, pediatrics, urgent care and ambulatory surgery center intake stations where rapid, sequential ear and eye assessments are required.
Design & Configuration
The combination design pairs an otoscope and a direct ophthalmoscope on a single power handle to reduce instrument changes during a patient encounter. The otoscope head uses a conical viewing port and speculum interface to focus illumination into the ear canal and provide a clear view of the tympanic membrane. The ophthalmoscope head provides a small, illuminated viewing aperture and optical pathway that enables direct inspection of the cornea, anterior chamber and fundus. Together, the geometry of each head optimizes line-of-sight visualization for their respective examinations while the shared handle and illumination workflow improve exam efficiency and ergonomics for clinicians.
Instrument Specifications
- Otoscope head: illuminated inspection head with conical speculum interface for visualization of ear canal and tympanic membrane
- Ophthalmoscope head: direct-view ophthalmoscope head for anterior segment and fundus assessment
- Shared power handle: supplies illumination to both heads for sequential exams
- Interchangeable heads designed for quick attachment/detachment to a single handle
- Intended for reusable clinical use with appropriate cleaning and disinfection
Material & Construction
Constructed from durable metal and high-grade polymers with integrated optical illumination components to provide consistent lighting for diagnostic inspection. Illumination is provided through conventional lamp or fiber-optic pathways typical of diagnostic heads, enabling bright, focused light at the exam site. The set is designed for repeated clinical use and routine cleaning and disinfection between patients.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
