Clinical Application
Designed for atraumatic handling of sponges, gauze, and dressings in open and deep-cavity procedures. The curved Foerster configuration enables controlled placement and retrieval of packing material in wounds, body cavities, and around delicate structures while minimizing tissue trauma. Common applications include general surgery, OB/GYN, thoracic procedures, minor operative procedures, and sterile packing during hemostasis.
Design & Configuration
The curved profile provides improved access and line-of-sight into deep or angled operative cavities compared with straight forceps. Ring handles with a locking ratchet permit secure, hands-free retention of a sponge or specimen. Smooth jaw surfaces reduce snagging and avoid puncturing sponges or soft tissue — useful when atraumatic manipulation is required or when holding saline-soaked dressings.
