Clinical Application

Designed for temporary occlusion of large-caliber arteries, this right-curved atraumatic aortic clamp is used to achieve proximal and distal control of the aorta during open vascular, cardiothoracic and select general surgery procedures. Typical applications include abdominal aortic exposure and control during aneurysm repair, thoracic aortic control, and any operative situation requiring reliable, atraumatic clamping of large vessels where preservation of the intima is important.

Design & Configuration

The right-curved orientation provides improved access and visualization when approaching the vessel from a specified side, helping the surgeon work around adjacent structures without excessive tissue retraction. The 26 cm shaft length gives extended reach into thoracic and abdominal cavities while maintaining tactile control at the handle. Broad, atraumatic jaw surfaces disperse clamping force across a larger area to minimize focal compression and intimal injury—an important consideration when temporarily occluding large arteries. A secure locking mechanism permits sustained occlusion without continual manual pressure.
