Clinical Application
Designed for atraumatic control of small- to medium-sized arteries and veins, this curved DeBakey–Pean artery forceps is used to secure vascular structures during dissection, anastomosis, hemostasis and vessel preparation. Its jaw geometry provides a firm but atraumatic hold on the vessel wall, helping preserve the intima while facilitating temporary occlusion during vascular and cardiovascular procedures, as well as many general surgical cases where precise vessel handling is required.
Design & Configuration
The curved shaft improves line-of-sight and angulation when working in confined fields or around anatomical curves, allowing the operator to approach a vessel from a more ergonomic trajectory. The DeBakey-style longitudinal serrations on the jaws distribute gripping force along the length of the vessel to reduce focal pressure and minimize tissue trauma compared with toothed forceps. The combination of a hemostatic clamp profile with atraumatic vascular jaws provides dependable occlusion while protecting vascular integrity.
