Clinical Application
Designed for temporary occlusion of the aorta and other large-caliber vessels during open cardiothoracic and vascular procedures. The 90-degree geometry provides access to transverse and lateral vessel segments where a straight clamp would be awkward, making it useful for proximal control during aortic anastomosis, aneurysm repair, coronary artery bypass grafting (proximal aortic work), and emergency cross-clamping when space is limited.
Design & Configuration
The right-angle (90°) configuration directs the jaws perpendicular to the shaft, allowing surgeons to approach the vessel from the side or from beneath surrounding structures while keeping the operator's hands and instruments clear of the operative field. The multi-purpose aortic jaw profile is intended to provide a secure occlusion over a range of large vessel diameters without excessive focal pressure, supporting effective temporary hemostasis while minimizing tissue trauma in constrained operative exposures.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Aortic clamp for large-vessel occlusion
- Model: Cooley Multi Purpose Aorta Clamp 90 (90° angled)
- Configuration: Right-angle geometry for limited-access applications
- Tip / jaw pattern: Aortic-style occluding jaws suited for large-caliber vessels
- Typical use: Proximal aortic control, aneurysm repair, cardiothoracic and vascular procedures
- Material: Surgical stainless steel

Material & Construction
Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel to withstand repeated clinical use and standard reprocessing. Precision-formed jaws provide predictable occlusive contact across the vessel lumen. The instrument is intended for reuse following appropriate cleaning, inspection, and sterilization per facility protocols.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
