Clinical Application
This trocar‑point K‑wire is intended for percutaneous skeletal fixation and temporary or definitive stabilization of small bones and fragments. The 1.8 mm diameter is commonly used in hand, wrist and foot procedures, as well as for provisional fixation in trauma and reconstructive cases. It is suitable for direct insertion with a hand driver or power drill to establish intramedullary or transosseous fixation and for use as part of external fixation constructs or tension band techniques.
Design & Configuration
The trocar point tip provides a sharp, three‑facet cutting geometry designed to penetrate cortical bone with minimal skiving, allowing controlled entry and predictable trajectory. The "round end" designation refers to the non‑cutting external profile at the opposite end, which facilitates handling, seating in drivers, and reduces soft‑tissue irritation at the superficial exit. The straight, uniform shaft profile preserves alignment and facilitates passage through soft tissues and bone during insertion and removal.
Instrument Specifications
