Clinical Application

This trocar‑point K‑wire is intended for percutaneous skeletal fixation and provisional fixation in a wide range of orthopedic procedures. The sharp trocar tip permits controlled entry through soft tissue and cortical bone for fracture pinning, fragment reduction, temporary fixation for external fixation frames, and fixation of small bones in the hand, wrist, foot, and ankle. The 1.0 mm diameter offers a balance of bending resistance and minimal bone disruption for small‑to‑medium constructs.

Design & Configuration

The trocar (cutting) point is designed to facilitate direct percutaneous penetration, reducing the need for separate drill steps in cancellous or thin cortical bone and enabling precise trajectory control. The straight wire geometry provides predictable placement for pinning and fixation. A 140 mm working length accommodates most extremity applications while allowing adequate purchase in bone without excessive protrusion.

Instrument Specifications

  • Instrument type: Kirschner wire (K‑wire)
  • Pattern / model: Trocar point, round end
  • Configuration: Straight fixation wire
  • Size: 1.0 mm diameter x 140 mm length
  • Tip: Trocar (cutting) point for percutaneous entry
  • Typical use: Percutaneous pinning, provisional fixation, external fixation applications
  • Material: Surgical stainless steel
  • Reusable: Yes — designed for standard reprocessing

Material & Construction

Constructed from surgical‑grade stainless steel to provide the necessary strength, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility for repeated use. The trocar point is ground to a cutting geometry that facilitates controlled insertion while minimizing burr formation. The round end allows secure engagement with manual drivers or wire holders used during insertion and removal.

Quality & Compliance

Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.

Brand Comparison

Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
