Clinical Application

This guide is intended to assist surgeons in accurate placement of Kirschner wires during pinning and temporary fixation procedures. It provides a controlled trajectory for hand-driven drills and K‑wires used in fracture fixation, metacarpal and phalangeal pinning, distal radius pinning, pediatric skeletal fixation and other small-bone applications. By stabilizing the drill entry and limiting lateral movement, the guide reduces skiving, improves wire accuracy, and helps protect surrounding soft tissues and neurovascular structures during percutaneous and mini-open techniques.

Design & Configuration

The instrument uses a sleeve-style guide geometry that captures the bit or K‑wire at the point of skin entry to maintain consistent angulation and depth guidance. A low-profile, hand-held configuration preserves visual access to the operative field while providing tactile feedback to the surgeon, allowing controlled advancement of the wire with a manual hand drill. The alignment sleeve minimizes lateral deflection and facilitates repeatable trajectories when placing multiple pins or when parallel/collinear pin placement is required.

Instrument Specifications
