Clinical Application
Soft 0.6 mm bone wire is used for cerclage and wiring techniques to approximate and stabilize bony fragments during orthopedic and trauma procedures. Common applications include circumferential cerclage for long-bone fractures, patellar and olecranon fixation with tension-band constructs, provisional stabilization during reduction, and adjunctive wiring in reconstructive procedures where malleable wire is required to contour and hold fragments prior to definitive fixation.
Design & Configuration
The soft (annealed) temper provides high pliability for manual bending, twisting and close contouring to bone surfaces without spring-back, facilitating secure cerclage loops and tight twists. At 0.6 mm diameter the wire balances handling and strength for many wiring applications while remaining easy to manipulate with standard cerclage tools and wire-twisting forceps. The 10 m length is supplied on a continuous lead suitable for cutting multiple lengths in the OR, reducing changeover and minimizing downtime during case assembly.
Instrument Specifications
