Clinical Application
Designed for precise bone and soft-tissue curettage, this Volkmann pattern curette is used to remove granulation tissue, loose cancellous bone, or pathologic material from confined anatomical spaces. It is commonly used in orthopedic procedures (including hand and foot surgery), spinal decompressions, bone biopsy site preparation, and general surgical debridement where controlled scraping and scooping are required.
Design & Configuration
The curette’s Volkmann-style scoop provides a concave cutting edge that permits efficient scraping and controlled removal of tissue with minimal collateral damage. The 17 cm length offers reach into deeper operative fields while maintaining tactile feedback for the surgeon. The scoop geometry concentrates force at the rim of the blade to facilitate removal of soft bone and fibrous tissue; the narrow neck and profile aid access into confined or irregular cavities.
