Clinical Application

Designed for controlled bone curettage, this Spratt pattern curette is used to remove necrotic bone, debride granulation tissue, clean cancellous surfaces and shape small bony defects. Common applications include orthopedic procedures (small-bone and joint work), spine and neurosurgical site preparation, ENT and oral/maxillofacial curettage, and intraoperative sampling of bone for biopsy. The 16.5 cm length provides reach into deeper or narrow surgical fields while maintaining tactile feedback for precise scraping.

Design & Configuration

The Fig.2 variant represents a specific tip geometry within the Spratt family, combining a concave, spoon-like cutting edge with a rigid shaft to allow controlled levering and scraping motions. The shaft length balances reach and control so the working tip can access deeper cavities without excessive hand intrusion into the wound. The scoop-shaped tip concentrates force at the rim for efficient removal of soft and friable bone while preserving surrounding structures when used with appropriate technique.
