Clinical Application
This curved Smith-Peterson bone osteotome is designed for controlled chiseling, trimming and shaping of cortical and cancellous bone. The 19 mm blade width provides a balance between cutting surface and control, making it suitable for osteotomies, bone graft preparation, creation of troughs or windows, and contouring during orthopedic, trauma, hand/foot and reconstructive procedures. The 20 cm overall length gives reach in deeper operative fields while maintaining tactile feedback at the blade.
Design & Configuration
The curved blade geometry permits improved access to concave surfaces and working around anatomic contours compared with straight osteotomes. A wider 19 mm cutting face disperses impact force for efficient bone removal while the 20 cm shaft provides reach without excessive leverage that can reduce control. The robust tang and full-length shaft are intended to withstand mallet striking and permit precise chip removal with incremental advances.
