Clinical Application
This long-handled bone curette is intended for controlled removal of bone and soft tissue from osseous surfaces. The 24 cm length provides extended reach into deeper operative fields such as spinal corridors, deep joint spaces, oral and maxillofacial sites, and some ENT corridors where a longer shaft is required. Typical uses include curettage of cysts or granulation tissue, debridement of cortical and cancellous bone, shaping or contouring bone margins, and harvesting small amounts of cancellous graft for packing.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's rigid shaft transmits manual force without flex, allowing tactile feedback during scraping and precise control at the tip. The scoop-shaped curette tip concentrates contact area to permit controlled shaving and removal of bone while protecting adjacent soft tissues when used with proper technique. The Fig.5 pattern denotes the manufacturer's tip profile and is chosen for procedures where a medium-sized bowl and slightly curved approach angle facilitate access and visibility in deeper or narrow sites.
