Clinical Application

This instrument is intended for controlled subperiosteal dissection and periosteal elevation, and for light rasping or smoothing of exposed bone surfaces. The narrow 5 mm working surface allows precise undermining and separation of periosteum from cortical bone in confined anatomical sites encountered in orthopedic, maxillofacial, ENT and dental/implant procedures. It is commonly used during exposure, contouring, and preparation of bone for fixation or grafting.

The combination of a narrow 5 mm working tip and a 16 cm shaft provides tactile feedback and reach for working within tight operative fields while keeping the surgeon’s hand outside the immediate wound. The raspatory-style blade delivers a flat, controlled plane for subperiosteal elevation and for smoothing or abrading small areas of bone without large cutting surfaces.
