Clinical Application

The Bruns bone curette is designed for controlled scraping, scooping and debridement of bone and adherent soft tissue in confined or deep surgical sites. Its Bruns-pattern spoon tip is well suited to precise removal of cancellous bone, chiseling of small cortical defects, curettage of granulation tissue and delineation of margins during orthopedic, ENT, neurosurgical and podiatric procedures. The 23 cm overall length provides added reach for access into deeper cavities without compromising tactile feedback.

The Bruns pattern features a shallow, spoon-shaped bowl with a thin, sharp cutting edge that facilitates both scraping and controlled scooping actions. The attached handle offers direct manual control and leverage for fine adjustments in angulation and depth of bite. The long 23 cm shaft increases working reach in narrow operative corridors while preserving the instrument’s balance for precise tactile feel during delicate bone work.
