Clinical Application
This Bruns bone curette with a Fig.6 tip is designed for controlled removal and contouring of bone and cancellous tissue. It is commonly used for scraping and debriding small areas of cortical and cancellous bone, collecting curettage specimens, and refining bony contours in orthopedic, neurosurgical, ENT and maxillofacial procedures. The 17 cm shaft provides extended reach for recessed or deeper operative sites while maintaining tactile feedback at the tip.
Design & Configuration
The Bruns Fig.6 configuration features a cupped (spoon-shaped) cutting bowl that permits precise shaving and scooping motions. The cup geometry concentrates the cutting edge to deliver controlled bone removal without aggressive gouging, helping preserve adjacent soft tissues. The 17 cm overall length balances reach with control, allowing the surgeon to work in deeper corridors while maintaining manual dexterity and tactile sensation at the working tip.
