Clinical Application

Designed to provide a secure, sustained grip on dense or slippery tissue, this straight Rochester Ochsner forceps is commonly used to grasp and hold fascia, soft tissue, pedicles, or small bundles of tissue while allowing the surgical team to apply traction or place sutures. The traumatic interlocking tips are effective for temporary occlusion of bleeding tissue and for handling tissue during exposure in general, orthopedic, gynecologic, and other operative settings where a firm mechanical hold is required.

Design & Configuration

The straight geometry offers direct line-of-sight access and precise control when working in shallow to moderate-depth operative fields. The Ochsner-style interlocking teeth at the tip bite into tissue to prevent slippage under tension, while the box lock and ratchet lock provide reliable, adjustable clamping force and hands-free retention. These features combine to reduce the need for repeated repositioning and to maintain consistent traction or hemostasis during critical steps of a procedure.
