Clinical Application
Pean-style curved hemostatic forceps are used to occlude and control bleeding from medium to large vessels and to grasp or hold tissue during open surgical procedures. The curved jaw permits atraumatic application around structures and in deeper cavities where a straight instrument would limit visibility or access. Common applications include general surgery, gynecologic procedures, abdominal and soft-tissue operations, and cases requiring reliable vessel control prior to ligation or cautery.
Design & Configuration
The curved geometry directs the jaws into the operative field while keeping the surgeon’s hand clear of surrounding anatomy, improving line-of-sight and access in confined spaces. The long Pean-style jaws distribute clamping pressure along a broader surface, reducing the risk of focal tissue tearing when controlling larger vascular pedicles. An integrated ratchet lock maintains secure occlusion without continuous manual pressure, enabling rapid instrument interchange or tie placement.
