Clinical Application
Right-angle hemostatic forceps are used to control bleeding and to place ligatures in confined or deep surgical fields. The right-angle (Mixter) geometry allows the tip to be guided around vessels, ducts, or tubular structures to clamp, occlude, or pass suture behind them without excessive manipulation of surrounding tissue. The smaller “baby” size and 18 cm length are appropriate for pediatric procedures, small-animal surgery, and adult procedures requiring finer access—common specialties include general, thoracic, vascular, urologic and gynecologic surgery.
Design & Configuration
The right-angle bend creates a 90-degree working tip that enables safe blind or limited-visibility dissection along the plane of a vessel or structure. A slender shank reduces the profile in narrow cavities and improves access beneath tissue layers. Hemostatic (crushing) jaws provide firm occlusion of small vessels; the angled tip helps seat the jaws behind a structure while the shaft and ring handles remain clear of the operative site, improving ergonomics when placing ligatures or passing sutures.
