Clinical Application
This curved Mayo-Guyon kidney pedicle clamp is designed to provide controlled occlusion of renal pedicles and associated vascular structures during open renal and urologic procedures. It is commonly used for temporary hemostasis during nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, renal artery or vein control, and other procedures requiring secure grasping and occlusion of the kidney pedicle.
Design & Configuration
The curved geometry places the jaws along the contour of the renal hilum, improving visibility and access in the retroperitoneal space. The curved tip orientation helps position the occluding surfaces around vascular bundles while keeping the handles clear of the operative field. A ratchet locking mechanism and box-lock hinge—standard to this clamp pattern—allow atraumatic, sustained closure at controlled tension so the surgeon can maintain hemostasis without continuous manual pressure.
