Clinical Application
This Macintosh laryngoscope set is supplied to support direct laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation in anesthesiology, emergency medicine, and procedural suites. The included blade sizes cover common adult airway presentations: size 3 for the majority of adult patients and size 4 for larger anatomies. The compact #2 handle (90 mm) provides a standard clinician interface for powering the blade light source while maintaining maneuverability in confined clinical environments such as emergency bays or bedside procedures.
Design & Configuration
The Macintosh curved blade is designed to engage the vallecula and indirectly lift the epiglottis, facilitating visualization of the glottic opening without directly manipulating the epiglottis. Having both size 3 and 4 blades in the set allows rapid selection based on patient anatomy and improves first-pass intubation likelihood. The detachable handle enables secure attachment of the blade and houses the light power source; a shorter 90 mm handle can reduce interference with facial structures and improve ergonomics during use in tight spaces.
