Design & Configuration
The Macintosh geometry features a curved blade designed to be positioned in the vallecula to indirectly lift the epiglottis, which is the standard technique for orotracheal intubation in many clinical settings. Blade length and curvature are selected by patient size: shorter blades provide better control in neonates and infants, while longer blades enable deeper insertion for larger adults. Integrated fiber-optic illumination runs along the blade to deliver consistent, shadow-minimized light to the laryngeal inlet, reducing the need for external light sources and improving visualization during intubation.
