Clinical Application
This four-piece set provides the clinically essential Macintosh curved blades used to visualize the glottis and facilitate orotracheal intubation across a range of patient sizes. The included sizes (#1, #2, #3 and #4) cover neonate/infant through adult patients, allowing anesthesiologists, emergency physicians, and airway teams to select the appropriate blade for rapid, controlled airway management in the operating room, procedural suites, ICU and emergency settings. The fiber-optic illumination channel improves visualization of the vocal cords and can reduce movement of the handle during intubation attempts.
Design & Configuration
Macintosh curved geometry is designed to engage the vallecula and indirectly lift the epiglottis, creating a line of sight to the glottic opening while minimizing soft-tissue obstruction. The set format supplies a contiguous range of blade lengths so clinicians can size-up or down quickly without delay. Fiber-optic illumination routed through the blade delivers consistent, central lighting at the distal edge, which enhances contrast and reduces shadows compared with poorly aligned or aged bulb systems. Smooth, contoured flanges and the classic Macintosh tip help guide an endotracheal tube along the blade path during intubation.
Instrument Specifications
- Set composition: 4 Macintosh curved blades
- Sizes included: #1, #2 (78 mm), #3, #4
- Illumination: fiber-optic light channel integrated in blade
- Clinical use: airway visualization and orotracheal tube placement
- Construction: reusable stainless steel blades
Material & Construction
Blades are manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel for durability and repeated sterilization. Fiber-optic components are integrated into the blade body to deliver illumination to the distal edge; the FO channel avoids reliance on fragile cheek bulbs and provides a consistent light path when mated with a compatible FO handle. The set is intended for repeated use following appropriate cleaning and sterilization protocols.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
