Clinical Application
This three-piece Macintosh blade set provides the common curved blade geometry used for direct laryngoscopy and orotracheal intubation. The included sizes permit airway management across patient groups: size #1 for neonates/infants, size #2 (78 mm) for small children or petite adults, and size #3 for average adult patients. The set supports routine anaesthesia induction, emergency airway control, and procedural intubation in operating rooms, ambulatory surgery centers, and emergency departments where a range of blade sizes is required.
Design & Configuration
The Macintosh curvature is designed to be positioned in the vallecula to indirectly lift the epiglottis and expose the glottic opening, allowing visualization of the vocal cords without directly hooking the epiglottis. Having three sizes in one set enables clinicians to select the appropriate blade length and curvature for patient anatomy and to minimize soft-tissue trauma. Integrated fiber optic illumination provides a consistent, shadow-reducing light source along the blade, improving visualization of the laryngeal inlet compared with non-illuminated blades.
Instrument Specifications
- Macintosh curved blade pattern
- Fiber optic (FO) illumination integrated into each blade
- Set includes sizes: #1, #2 (78 mm), and #3
- Intended for direct laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation
- Reusable and designed for routine sterilization/reprocessing
Material & Construction
Blades are constructed from medical-grade stainless steel for durability, corrosion resistance, and repeated sterilization. Fiber optic illumination is incorporated into the blade to deliver consistent light to the tip without the need for a disposable bulb in the blade itself. The set is designed for reuse and reprocessing according to facility protocols.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
