Clinical Application
This five-blade Macintosh set provides the core blade sizes required for routine direct laryngoscopy and orotracheal intubation across a range of patient sizes. The included blades support airway management in operating rooms, emergency departments, intensive care units and procedural areas where reliable visualization of the glottic opening is required. The size range (#0–#4) allows clinicians to select an appropriately sized blade for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients; size #2 is specified at 78 mm for mid-child to small-adult use.
Design & Configuration
The Macintosh blade uses a gently curved profile that is positioned in the vallecula to lift the epiglottis indirectly, creating a line-of-sight to the glottis with minimal force on the laryngeal structures. The set format ensures immediate access to progressively larger blade lengths without instrument change delays. Conventional blade geometry includes a broad flange to displace the tongue and a tapered distal tip to facilitate oral insertion and reduce soft-tissue trauma when advancing the endotracheal tube.
Instrument Specifications
- Set composition: five curved Macintosh blades — sizes #0, #1, #2 (78 mm), #3, #4
- Blade pattern: Macintosh (indirect epiglottic elevation)
- Illumination: conventional handle-mounted bulb interface (typical for conventional blade sets)
- Intended use: direct laryngoscopy for endotracheal intubation and airway assessment
- Reusable design for repeated clinical use
Material & Construction
Blades are manufactured in stainless steel for durable edge retention and repeated clinical handling. The set is configured for reuse and for use with standard laryngoscope handles that provide conventional, handle-mounted bulb illumination.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
