Clinical Application

Provides direct laryngoscopic exposure and illumination for orotracheal intubation in adult patients. The flexible distal tip permits fine adjustment of the blade’s curvature at the pharyngeal inlet to improve visualization of the epiglottis and glottic opening in patients with challenging anatomy or limited mouth opening. Suitable for use in operating rooms, emergency departments, intensive care units and outpatient surgery centers where enhanced tip control and tip-proximate illumination aid airway management.

Design & Configuration

The Macintosh curved geometry offers familiar anatomic contact points for tongue displacement while positioning the blade in the vallecula. A flexible distal tip gives the clinician the ability to dynamically modify tip angulation without changing blades, allowing targeted lifting or lifting of the epiglottis to optimize line of sight. Integrated fiber-optic illumination transmits light to the blade tip, improving visualization at the working edge rather than relying solely on proximal light sources. The #4 size is intended for larger adult airways where a longer reach and larger flange provide effective tongue and soft-tissue control.

Instrument Specifications

  • Pattern: Macintosh curved blade
  • Size: #4 (Macintosh 4)
  • Feature: Flexible distal tip for adjustable angulation
  • Illumination: Integrated fiber-optic light channel
  • Use case: Orotracheal intubation and glottic visualization in adult patients
  • Reusable design for repeated clinical use and reprocessing

Material & Construction

Constructed from durable stainless steel for rigidity and resistance to corrosion, with an integrated fiber-optic light channel to deliver tip-proximate illumination. The flexible tip is engineered to permit controlled angulation while maintaining atraumatic edges and a smooth finish to facilitate cleaning and sterilization. Reusable design compatible with standard hospital sterilization processes.

Quality & Compliance

Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.

Brand Comparison

Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
