Clinical Application

This blade is intended for direct laryngoscopy and facilitation of orotracheal intubation using the Macintosh curved approach. The Macintosh curvature is positioned in the vallecula to indirectly lift the epiglottis and expose the glottic opening. The flexible distal tip provides incremental adjustment of the blade tip angle to optimize glottic visualization without the need to exchange blades or change patient position, which can be useful in anatomically challenging airways or when small adjustments improve the view.

Design & Configuration

The mid-length curved geometry provides the standard Macintosh blade mechanics—displacement of the tongue and indirect elevation of the epiglottis via the vallecula. An articulating/flexible distal segment allows the operator to fine-tune tip position at the glottic inlet, improving visualization in cases where a fixed curved blade provides a suboptimal line of sight. The conventional handle-mounted configuration permits use with standard reusable laryngoscope handles and familiar single-hand technique for most practitioners.

Instrument Specifications

  • Pattern: Macintosh #2 curved blade
  • Flexible distal tip for adjustable tip angulation
  • Blade length: 90 mm
  • Intended use: direct laryngoscopy and orotracheal intubation
  • Reusable stainless steel construction

Material & Construction

Manufactured from durable stainless steel suitable for repeated clinical use and routine sterilization workflows. The articulating distal tip is integrated into the blade body to preserve a smooth profile along the patient-contact surface while allowing controlled adjustment of the tip angle. Reusable construction supports instrument longevity and cost-effective reprocessing.

Quality & Compliance

Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.

Brand Comparison

Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
