Clinical Application

Designed for direct laryngoscopy and orotracheal intubation in neonatal and small infant patients, this Macintosh size #0 blade provides a minimized profile for safe insertion in small oral cavities. The fiber optic illumination delivers bright, focused light to the distal blade area to improve visualization of the glottic opening during routine and difficult pediatric airway management in operating rooms, emergency departments, ICUs and NICUs.

Design & Configuration

The Macintosh curved geometry is intended to lift the epiglottis indirectly by positioning the blade tip in the vallecula, creating a line of sight to the vocal cords while minimizing direct contact with the epiglottis. The short 65 mm length and size #0 curvature reduce the risk of posterior pharyngeal trauma and provide appropriate reach for neonates and small infants. Integrated fiber optic illumination reduces shadowing along the blade and improves contrast at the glottic inlet compared with non-illuminated blades. The American Macintosh pattern permits use with standard Macintosh-type laryngoscope handles.
