Clinical Application
Designed for atraumatic exploration and controlled passage of suture or guide material, this buttoned probe is used to examine sinus tracts, fistulae, ducts and wound cavities. The built-in eye permits threading of suture, probe filament, or a guidewire to facilitate ligation, drainage catheter placement, or passage of drains and sutures through confined lumens. Its 11.5 cm length provides reach into moderately deep pockets while maintaining tactile feedback for the operator.
Design & Configuration
The rounded (buttoned) flat tip minimizes tissue snagging and reduces the risk of inadvertent perforation when negotiating delicate tracts. A 2 mm flat tip offers a stable contact surface for controlled probing and depth assessment. The integrated eye near the tip enables secure threading of suture or a guide without additional manipulation. The straight shaft and overall length are selected to balance reach with manual control, allowing precise, low-profile handling in tight operative fields.
