Clinical Application
Designed to assist in biliary surgery, this Pratt-pattern cystic hook provides a focused point for atraumatic retraction, controlled traction and precise dissection around the cystic duct and cystic artery. It is used to define and expose anatomical planes within Calot's triangle, aid in ligation or clipping of the cystic duct, and to separate fibrous attachments during open and some assisted biliary procedures.
Design & Configuration
The single-ended hook profile concentrates force on a small contact area to permit controlled engagement of tissues and fine dissection without excessive bulk in the field. The 22 cm shaft length offers reach for intra-abdominal work while preserving tactile feedback. The Pratt Fig.1 hook geometry is intended to allow secure encirclement or uplift of the ductal structures with minimal obstruction of the operative view, helping the surgeon maintain orientation in the gallbladder triangle.
