Clinical Application
Pean-style hemostatic forceps with a curved shaft are used to obtain hemostasis by clamping and occluding medium-to-large vessels and compressible tissue planes during open surgical procedures. The 16 cm length provides a balance of reach and control for deep or confined operative fields common in general surgery, trauma, vascular, and obstetric/gynecologic procedures. The instrument is suitable for vessel ligation, tissue manipulation while preparing sutures, and temporary occlusion prior to definitive hemostasis.
Design & Configuration
The curved geometry directs the tip away from the operator’s line of sight and allows improved access around anatomical structures and into deeper cavities. A Pean-style transverse serration across the jaw distributes clamping force along the tissue, reducing slippage when securing vessels or bulky tissue. The box-lock hinge and ratchet mechanism provide controlled, repeatable locking pressure and tactile feedback while clamped.
