Clinical Application

Provides focused soft-tissue retraction in confined or superficial operative fields. The double-ended Parker-Mott pattern is commonly used to expose skin edges, subcutaneous tissue, mucosa and small flaps during procedures in general surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, ENT and oral/maxillofacial work. The handheld design gives the surgeon direct tactile control over tissue tension and exposure, making it useful for short-duration retraction and intermittent retraction where a self-retaining device is not required.

Design & Configuration

The double-ended configuration supplies two working tips on a single instrument, allowing quick selection of blade orientation or working width without exchanging instruments. The Fig. 2 designation corresponds to the manufacturer's blade profile; the geometry of the flat blades distributes retraction force across a broader surface to minimize focal pressure on delicate tissues. The 16 cm overall length balances reach into shallow cavities with ergonomic control for precise retraction.
