Clinical Application
These long, slender forceps are intended for atraumatic grasping, traction, and controlled manipulation of soft tissue and small structures in confined operative fields. The instrument is suitable for use where fine control and reach are required—for example during vascular exposure, thoracic, ENT, or other procedures that demand precise handling of delicate tissue without bulk at the tip.
Design & Configuration
The Overholt-Geissendorfer Fig. 2 configuration features a length and shaft profile optimized to reach into narrow or deep cavities while maintaining tactile feedback at the handles. The Fig. 2 jaw geometry provides controlled closure force for secure, atraumatic grip; the elongated shaft increases working reach and improves access without crowding the operative field. These characteristics reduce the need for repeated instrument exchanges when working in constrained spaces.
