Clinical Application
Designed to provide atraumatic dilation and direct visualization of the anterior nasal cavity, the angular Martin-style speculum is used in routine ENT examinations and office-based procedures. Typical applications include assessment of the nasal vestibule and anterior septum, inspection and removal of foreign bodies, debridement, application of topical agents, anterior cautery and small biopsy procedures. Its form factor supports quick transitions between diagnostic inspection and minor interventions in clinics, outpatient procedure rooms and surgery centers.
Design & Configuration
The angular blade geometry directs the line of sight into the nasal floor and anterior meatus without excessive upward retraction of the tip of the nose, improving ergonomics for the clinician and comfort for the patient. The handheld design permits fine control during inspection or instrument introduction and minimizes soft-tissue distortion compared with bulkier retractors. The 13 cm length provides adequate reach for adult anterior intranasal work while remaining manageable for office use.
