Clinical Application
Designed for precise dissection of delicate soft tissues, this curved Metzenbaum–Nelson scissors is used to separate tissue planes and perform controlled blunt or sharp dissection in general, plastic, ENT, and pediatric procedures. The sharp/blunt blade configuration enables an initial incising cut with one edge while the blunt counter-edge protects underlying structures during separation. Not intended for cutting heavy connective tissue, wire, or suture material.
Design & Configuration
The long shank and relatively fine cutting blades characteristic of Metzenbaum-style instruments provide reach into operative fields while keeping the surgeon's hands clear of the tissue plane. The curved profile enhances visibility and access around anatomical contours and permits dissection at an angle to the line of sight. The sharp/blunt tip arrangement balances cutting precision with atraumatic blunt manipulation—facilitating controlled entry into tissue and subsequent blunt spreading without doubling up on dissections.
