Clinical Application

Designed for atraumatic retrieval of biliary calculi and debris during biliary surgery. The scoop is used during open cholecystectomy, choledochotomy and common bile duct exploration to capture and remove loose stones or fragments from the gallbladder, cystic duct and common bile duct. Its narrow head diameter allows passage into ductal lumens while minimizing tissue trauma and the need for repeated instrument exchanges.

Design & Configuration

The instrument combines a long 32 cm shaft with a shallow, rounded distal cup to reach deeper portions of the biliary tree while maintaining tactile feedback. The 6.7 mm scoop head provides a balance between a compact profile for ductal entry and sufficient capacity to retain small-to-moderate sized calculi. The Fig. 2 Luer-Koerte pattern is optimized for controlled capture and release of stones with minimal manipulation of surrounding tissue.
